Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda's most famous and diverse protected areas, located in the southwestern part of the country. Covering approximately 1,978 square kilometers, it is named after Queen Elizabeth II and is renowned for its rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes. Queen Elizabeth National Park is characterized by a diverse range of ecosystems, including savannah grasslands, wetlands, lakes, and forests. This diversity supports a wide variety of wildlife species, making it a prime safari destination.

The park is home to an impressive array of wildlife, including the Big Five (lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinoceros), although rhinoceros are rarely seen. Queen Elizabeth National Park is a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with over 600 bird species recorded within its boundaries. Key birding areas include the Mweya Peninsula, Kazinga Channel, and Ishasha sector. Rare species such as the shoebill stork, African skimmer, and martial eagle can be spotted here.

The Ishasha sector of the park is famous for its population of tree-climbing lions. Visitors can embark on game drives in this area to try and catch a glimpse of these unique lions lounging in the branches of fig trees.
