Shimba Hills is a tropical rainforest located in southeastern Kenya, near the coastal city of Mombasa.It is the second largest coastal forest after Arabuko Sokeko.It is well known as paradise for sable antelope.Other wild animals within the park include elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and several species of primates.Some of the attraction within the park include sheldricks falls,This beautiful waterfall is located within the Shimba Hills National Reserve. It's a great spot for a refreshing swim and a picnic.Sable valley, This is a scenic valley within the reserve known for its lush vegetation and the presence of the endangered Sable Antelope.
Shimba hills lodge,The lodge is perched on a hill within the reserve and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It provides accommodation options and is an excellent base for exploring the area.Kaya forest,the Shimba Hills are part of the sacred Mijikenda Kaya forests, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These forests have cultural and historical significance, and guided tours provide insights into the traditions of the Mijikenda people. Bird watching is one of the favourate activities while at shimba national reserve.Some of the birds species include Fischer's Turaco and the African Crowned Eagle.
