Elatia Mara Camp

Safari Stay

Elatia Mara Camp

Mara Elatia Camp (Elatia means “The Good Neighbour” in the Maa language) is a luxury tented retreat perched along the Oloololo Escarpment in the Mara Triangle of the Maasai Mara. The camp opened in December 2022 and offers an elegant yet serene safari experience that marries comfort, panoramic views, and connection with nature. With sweeping vistas of the Mara River, views of the Kalema Hills (famously featured in Out of Africa), and wildlife roaming unfenced bush, staying at Elatia means you get to live the Mara experience from a front-row seat.

Elatia Camp Location & Accessibility

Elatia is located in the northwestern plains of the Mara Triangle, about 280 km from Nairobi. There are two main ways to get there:

  • By air: Flights from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Kichwa Tembo Airstrip (about 50 minutes), followed by a short transfer to the camp.

  • By road: A scenic 6-hour drive through Narok town and into the Mara, turning in via Oloololo or Sekenani Gate depending on the route.

The camp sits in the Partakilat wildlife conservancy, which shares border and access to the Mara Triangle, meaning guests often avoid crowds and yet are very close to the core wildlife action.

Accommodation at Elatia Mara Camp

Elatia has 12 to 16 elevated tents (sources differ: some say 12, some say 16) built to high standards of safari luxury.

  • Each tent is en-suite with modern bathrooms, hot rain-showers, private balcony/veranda overlooking the Mara plains, and free Wi-Fi.

  • Tents include doubles and twins. Some have sitting areas. Family tents or inter-connecting options are also available.

  • There is one wing of tents that is wheelchair accessible.

Things to do & Experiences at Elatia Mara Camp
