Lake Elementaita is a soda lake located in the Great Rift Valley, about 120km northwest of the capital city Nairobi, it is about 3 hours’ drive away. Lake Elementaita wildlife sanctuary lies between Lake Naivasha to the north and Lake Nakuru to the south.
The area around Lake Elementaita is known for its birdlife that supports major breeding grounds for the White Pelicans, Feeding grounds for the Flamingos and other migratory birds from Europe and other locations from north of Africa. Some of the birds that can be spotted include; Geese, Spikes, Cormorant, Kingfisher, Northern puffback, Pallid harrier, Red-capped lark, long tailed widowbird among many others.
Other attractions found at the Lake Elementaita Wildlife sanctuary are Kikopey Hot springs, the surrounding acacia woodlands, Wildlife animals such as; Common Zebra, Buffaloes, Reedbuck, Impalas and elands among others.
