Overview;
Maasai Mara (Masai Mara) is known as Africa’s greatest wildlife reserve, situated in southwest Kenya. Famous for the abundance wildlife including the Big Five (Lions, Leopards, Elephants,Buffalos & Rhinos) and the Great wildebeest migration where over 1 million wildebeest and zebras follow an annual migration route from Serengeti to Maasai Mara and the other way round. The reserve is inhabited with the Maasai people who leave nearby and are well known for their distinctive customs, way of life and dressing code, it is without a doubt one of the most famous Africa safari destination.
Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510sq km (580sq miles) and raise 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. The terrain of the reserve is primarily grassland and riverine forest with clumps of the acacia trees. It’s about 270km from the capital city Nairobi and takes 5-6hrs by road or 45-60minutes by flight.
The Maasai Mara Ecosystem holds one of the highest lion densities in the world and this is where over two million wildebeest, zebras and Thompsons Gazelle migrate annually. It host’s over 95 species of mammals and 570 recorded species of bird. This is considered as the 7th wonder of the world.

Detailed Day-wise Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi- Maasai Mara
Pick up from Nairobi at 8: 00 am and head south to the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara. Arriving in the afternoon have lunch and checks in. Then proceed to the park for afternoon game drives at 1600hrs to 1800hrs followed by dinner and overnight stay at the camp/ lodge.
Day 2: Maasai Mara full Day
Full day is spent exploring the park in search of the big five. The Mara offers wildlife in such a great variety and abundance that is truly difficult to believe. Over 450 species of animals have been recorded here, you will easily see rhinos, leopard, elephants, buffalo, wildebeests, zebra, warthog, jackals, lions, many types of antelopes, crocodiles and giraffe. Although July, August and September are the months when the Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra from Seregeti (Tanzania). The famous Maasai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the game reserve, Picnic lunch is served in the park. In the evening return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.
Day 3: Maasai Mara – Nairobi
Early Morning game drive in the park followed by late breakfast at the lodge/ camp and depart to Nairobi. Lunch en route, and then proceed to Nairobi arriving late in the afternoon.
